Australia’s countdown to Apple’s first foldable iPhone is officially on. iPhone Duo pre-orders open at 11:00 pm Sydney time on Friday, 16 October, ahead of the phone’s Australian release on Friday, 23 October.
With 12 days to go, Telstra and Optus have already confirmed their pre-order timing, while the full launch promotions from Australia’s major carriers are still taking shape. Rather than guess at deals that have not been announced, The Tech Boom will keep this page updated as Telstra, Optus and Vodafone reveal their final iPhone Duo offers.
iPhone Duo Australia pre-order countdown
| Provider | Pre-orders | Current iPhone Duo offer | Status |

Carrier promotions can change before pre-orders open. We will update this comparison as official offers are published.
Apple: A$3,499 sets the baseline
Apple’s Australian price starts at A$3,499. The iPhone Duo will be offered in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities, in Star White and Night Sky.
Apple currently advertises the entry model at A$145.79 per month for 24 months at 0% p.a. through its available financing option. Apple Trade In is also advertising A$235 to A$1,595 in credit toward iPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro when trading an eligible iPhone 13 or newer, with the actual value depending on the device and its condition.
That makes Apple’s outright price the number to keep in mind when the carrier deals arrive. A plan with a lower-looking monthly handset payment is not necessarily cheaper once the required mobile service and repayment period are included.
Telstra iPhone Duo: pricing is already appearing
Telstra has confirmed that iPhone Duo pre-orders begin at 11:00 pm AEDT on 16 October, with availability from 23 October.
Its mobile store is already showing the iPhone Duo device from $97.19 per month, with a minimum handset cost of $3,498.84 over 36 months, plus the cost of the customer’s chosen Telstra plan.
That’s essentially Apple’s A$3,499 entry price spread over three years before the mobile service is added. The more interesting question is whether Telstra adds a launch bonus, trade-in incentive, points offer or other promotion closer to pre-order night.
Optus iPhone Duo: confirmed, but the deal is still under wraps
Optus has also confirmed an 11:00 pm AEDT, 16 October pre-order start and 23 October availability.
For now, its deals page lists iPhone Duo as “Coming soon” and tells customers to check back. That means any specific discount or bonus being circulated before Optus publishes it should be treated cautiously.
We will add the Optus device repayments, required plan pricing, trade-in promotion and any launch credits here once they’re official.
What about Vodafone?
Apple specifically lists Vodafone, Telstra and Optus among the Australian carriers supporting iPhone Duo’s eSIM technology. Independent Australian plan trackers also expect all three major networks to sell the Duo on a plan.
However, Vodafone’s Duo-specific Australian launch pricing is not public enough yet for us to quote a deal confidently. We’ll leave it as TBC rather than turning a general Vodafone promotion into an iPhone Duo offer without confirmation.
One detail to remember: iPhone Duo is eSIM-only
Unlike some other Australian iPhones, the iPhone Duo has no physical SIM tray. Apple says it is eSIM-only worldwide, with the saved internal space helping maximise battery capacity.
That shouldn’t be a problem for customers buying through Telstra, Optus or Vodafone, but it is worth knowing before moving from an older phone or transferring a service.
Should you buy outright or on a 36-month carrier plan?
At A$3,499, the iPhone Duo makes monthly repayments understandably attractive. But shoppers should compare the total cost, not just the number shown beside the handset each month.
For example, Telstra’s current $97.19 monthly device figure runs for 36 months and excludes the mobile plan. Apple’s advertised A$145.79 figure is higher each month but runs for 24 months. Neither figure by itself tells you which option is best for your usage.
When the launch offers arrive, we’ll compare:
- total handset repayments;
- minimum plan cost;
- trade-in bonuses;
- gift cards or account credits;
- data inclusions and network perks;
- early repayment or cancellation implications; and
- the real total cost over 24 or 36 months.
Why the iPhone Duo pre-order could be unusually competitive
The Duo isn’t another routine iPhone refresh. It is Apple’s first foldable and its most expensive iPhone yet in Australia.
That gives carriers a reason to make the monthly price look more approachable, particularly as they compete for early adopters. It also makes trade-in bonuses potentially much more important than they are on a conventional upgrade.
